In 1998 Ericsson partnered with Shegeek to create "Zopps," a worldwide social-networking site for employees and their families. The site functioned to foster communication and collaboration among employees, but also allowed people with specific interests to start their own sub-communities in which they could share their expertise. A common notion now, with the ubiquity of blogs and social-networking sites, this concept was revolutionary at a time just on the cusp of dynamically generated web content.
